Functions include:

• To coordinate and undertake the functions of Climate Change, Pollution Control, Natural Resources Management, Forestry and Mining.
• Reviewing Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) and Environmental and Social Audit reports.
• To carry out cleaning activities within the Municipality, collection of waste and taking care of dumpsites.
• Indentify and establish green spaces within the municipality
• In collaboration with other departments, inspect and approve building plans withing the municipality.
• Monitoring & Evaluating environmental health risks
